The fourth and final season of the TV series EVIL is playing out now on Paramount+ in Australia and it’s been a “hell of a ride” and extremely disappointing that it hasn’t been picked up by another network yet.

The show is the closest they have ever come to recreating that classic “X-Files” style magic of believer vs non-believer. From the opening credits you’ll be hooked as it gives you a seemingly harmless “pop-up-book” style animation that turns suddenly to deliver the message of this week’s show.

Evil has a brilliant ensemble cast led by Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi who are the three main leads, a priest, a psychologist and a scientist. David, Kristen and Ben, are hired to debunk strange happenings for the Catholic Church including demonic possession, miracles, hauntings, prophecies and more.

As the trio deal with monsters in their work life, they discover monsters in their personal space as well. The supporting cast includes some absolute powerhouses including Christine Lahti as Kristen’s Mother whose character arc is immense and the always frightening Michael Emerson who you’ll remember as Ben in “Lost” as well as roles in “Person of Interest” and the recent “Fallout” show. His character of Leland is one of the all-time great TV villains and you’ll love his chemistry with the other characters as they interact on your screen.

Kristen’s family all have big parts the play in the show as well, with her daughters and all great while her husband “Andy” is played by Aussie actor and writer Patrick Brammall who you’ll recognise from the hit show “Collin from Accounts” but also as the voice of Uncle Rad in “Bluey”.

A special mention also to Sister Andrea, played by Andrea Martin who grows on you as the show progresses, to a point where you a desperately hoping that nothing happens to her.

If you love shows like “Supernatural”, “The X-Files”, “Midnight Mass”, “Grimm” or “Fringe” then you’ll certainly want to watch this from the beginning and give it all of your attention.

The cancellation of the show has led fans to beg other streaming services like Netflix to pick it up for a season 5. To be honest, the streaming giant could do worse, and they have recently

It feels like it’s been a minute since a new show hasn’t been berated by an online community for being too woke, or for poor writing or whatever else everyone hates this week. This is a rare gem where the cast has chemistry, the writing is amazing, the style is on point and for some reason, it’s just not being picked up. So watch it, tell a friend about it and get them to watch it as well.

“Evil” was created by Robert and Michelle King the genius duo behind “The Good Wife” series, the show started life on CBS, before moving to Paramount+.
