A 14-year-old North Cairns boy has been charged for his alleged involvement in an assault at a McLeod St shopping centre.
The boy was arrested after being located on Sheridan St on Monday night.
It will be alleged the boy was part of a group who attempted to steal a mobile phone from a 19-year-old woman who was seated outside the shopping centre on January 11.
During the assault the woman was allegedly grabbed by one person and then allegedly spat on by another.
Police further allege the boy was involved in break-ins at Cairns businesses over the past week.
The boy was charged with two counts of enter premises and one count of assault.
He is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on January 24.
