Property crime charges, Greater Cairns

Seven people have been charged with a total of 108 property related offences committed over the past month in the greater Cairns area.

A 35-year-old Manoora man has ben charged with a total of 85 property related charges including 82 counts of fraud, one count each of stealing, receiving tainted property and possess utensils.

Police allege the man either stole or received a debit card and fraudulently used that card on 82 separate occasions between October 25 and 27 around Cairns.

It is further alleged the man was also in possession of a bong when police apprehended him.

He is scheduled to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on December 16.

A 30-year-old Manunda man is charged with one count of stealing and two counts of unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

Police attended an address in Manunda at about 8.30pm on Thursday (December 1), allegedly locating two stolen electric scooters and stolen clothing items.

He is scheduled to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on January 11, 2023.

A 17-year-old Cairns girl is charged charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break at night, attempted enter dwelling with intent by break at night and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Police will allege the girl was involved in the burglaries of two homes on Ormond Close, Gordonvale on November 22 and the use of a stolen vehicle from Whiterock over the past fortnight.

She is scheduled to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Gordonvale girl is also charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break and attempted enter dwelling with intent by break.

Police will allege she was with the 17-year-old girl when the offences were committed in Gordonvale.

She is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Edmonton boy is charged with four counts of enter dwelling and commit, one count each of trespass, attempted enter dwelling with intent, enter dwelling with intent by break and obstruct police.

Police will allege the offences were committed in Bentley Park this week.

He’s been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

A 14-year-old Bentley Park boy is charged with one count of attempted enter dwelling with intent by break in company after he allegedly attempted to break into a home in Bentley Park on November 1.

He is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.

A 13-year-old Woree girl is charged with one count each of wilful damage, enter premises and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property and two counts of stealing.

Police allege the girl entered a home at Yarrabah on Thursday (December 1) and stole a car.

It’s further alleged she stole and damaged property in Cairns in October.

She is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
