The body of a man has been found in Tinaroo Dam at Yungaburra after he went missing in the water on Sunday.
Police say the 62-year-old failed to resurface after swimming out to assist two children on kayaks.
An extensive search was carried out on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, involving police on foot, Cairns Water Police, SES volunteers, dive squad, QGAIR Rescue 510 helicopter, and QFD Swift Water Rescue crews.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Support services have been offered to his family.
It comes more than two years after 49-year-old Atherton man Jeffrey Snelling drowned in the lake after saving his two sons.
