A teacher at a Redlynch school has been charged with multiple child sex offences.
The 35-year-old man was arrested in front of students and staff on Friday, November 10, and charged with three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 and two counts of possessing child exploitation material.
Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives also executed a search warrant and seized electronic devices.
Redlynch State College’s Executive Principal and Head of Campus have written to parents and maintained the safety and welfare of students remains the highest priority at the school.
The teacher is scheduled to reappear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 19.
Police are working with the Department of Education Queensland and investigations are ongoing.
