A Cairns police officer has been injured after a female driver fled the scene during a roadside drug test.
It’s alleged just before 6pm on Monday the officer was injured evading the woman’s vehicle on George Cannon Drive in Mt Sheridan. The woman reportedly sped off from the RDT when the officer indicated her license was disqualified. The officer sustained minor injuries to his arms and legs and was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Officers are searching for the female driver as the grey Toyota Kluger she was in was reported stolen from a Kennedy Creek Road address at Carrachan on Sunday, April 6, before it was located yesterday in Milla Milla.
So far no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
