“Until I Kill You” is a gripping four-part British true crime miniseries based on Delia Balmer’s autobiographical book “Living with a Serial Killer”, which chronicles her harrowing experience with serial killer John Sweeney.
The series, starring Anna Maxwell Martin as Delia Balmer and Shaun Evans as John Sweeney, depicts the terrifying relationship that began when the pair met at a London pub in 1991.
The narrative follows Sweeney’s increasingly abusive behaviour, including a horrific incident where he tied Balmer to her bed, interrogated her, and confessed to murdering his ex-girlfriend Melissa Halstead.
The dramatic series culminates in Sweeney’s trial, where he is ultimately found guilty of attempted murder against Balmer and later convicted of murdering Melissa Halstead and Paula Fields.
Throughout the series, viewers witness Balmer’s traumatic journey, including her struggles with PTSD, trust issues, and the profound psychological impact of her near-fatal relationship.
