Ergon Energy is working to restore power to more than 1,200 customers in the Dimbulah and Chillagoe areas.
It comes after severe weather caused a fault overnight.
Some residents in this area may be without power supply until this afternoon.

Ergon will have a helicopter flying along the main feeder lines early this morning to help pinpoint the site of the fault.
Affected suburbs include Almaden, Arriga, Bontaba, Chillagoe, Dimbulah, Fumar, Koorboora, Leafgold, Lemonside, Mareeba, Mutchilba, Petford, Price Creek, Solanum and Tabacum.
